Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer

A Poem by Jen Walters

The dog days of summer
Are hot and long.
The sun shines bright and strong.

We are too tired and lazy,
We are miserable and cranky.
we long to sit by the beach, and smell the air of the sea.

It's too hot to move.
Too hot to breathe.
Too hot to even see clearly.

The heat ripples in the air.
All we can do is sit and stare.
The grassy fields have gone bare.

We sit on the porch sipping lemonade.
Words need not be said.
We sit and wait for the cooler days ahead.

I agree.
"We sit on the porch sipping lemonade.
Words need not be said.
We sit and wait for the cooler days ahead."
I liked the hot days of Summer. Wild grandchildren can swim all day and maybe be tire? Thank you Jen for sharing the excellent poetry for the days of Summer.

And then we shiver in the winter time, longing for the summer. :)

I really enjoyed this, as I do the turning of each new season. Beccy.

That's exactly what these days of summer are like. Even my cats won't go outside. There's even a stray cat who comes in to cool off.
