Dog Days of SummerA Poem by Jen WaltersThe dog days of summer Are hot and long. The sun shines bright and strong. We are too tired and lazy, We are miserable and cranky. we long to sit by the beach, and smell the air of the sea. It's too hot to move. Too hot to breathe. Too hot to even see clearly. The heat ripples in the air. All we can do is sit and stare. The grassy fields have gone bare. We sit on the porch sipping lemonade. Words need not be said. We sit and wait for the cooler days ahead.
