![]() The WaterA Poem by Jen WaltersI sit by the water Year after year I stare at my reflection Sometimes its not so clear I watch the birds fly overhead Sometimes I am filled with so much dread I wish I wasn't so rough around the edges That I was as smooth as the water's edge I throw a rock into the water To watch the ripples appear They go far and then they go near Once more the water is smooth and clear. I wish I was like the water clear I wish I could teach my heart to hear. I wish you were near To tell me that I am dear.
