The Pit and the PendulumA Poem by Jen WaltersI sit in my pit, Watching the pendulum swing by. Never asking why. I sit in my pit. The pendulum swings back and forth, Measuring out the time I have left. Which is leaving me bereft. Sitting in this pit I am reminded of my life. My life was so full of strife, Wasn't much of a life. More times than not I went astray, On the righteous path I did not stay. The pendulum swings on and on, Marking the time that has gone. I sit in this pit, Wondering where I lost my wit. The joy from my face is no more, I keep looking at the door. For you to come swinging in, For my life to begin.
