The Incoming Storm

The Incoming Storm

A Poem by Jen Walters

The incoming storm rolls and tumbles the sea,
It rages deep within me.
How do I tell the person closest to me,
That there is trouble brewing within me.
I fear the storm may roll on forever,
If I do not do something to stop it.
The incoming storm is powerful and strong,
And it will wreak much havoc all night long.
My dear no you did not bring on this incoming storm,
It's been brewing for awhile now.
I hope you can one day understand,
What I lack in positivity, I make up for by staying on land.
Please forgive this storm,
As with all things it is temporary.
Help me to keep it at bay,
I want to be who I truly am each and every day.

I think the best part of this piece is that you portray your bottled up emotions so well, and reading this I get the feelings of regret and apology for eventually being unable to stop the storm going on inside of your mind from springing into being. It's a very well written piece and I can definitely relate to it. Nice work!

You are welcome! Yes I will!
The storm you refer to sounds a lot like depression to me. At least, that is what I read between the lines, but one word can mean different things to different people, and so can a poem. You´ve expressed your emotions quite intensely, Jen. This is a wonderfully written piece :)

I relate to this poem too...sometimes storms just get inside us without us even knowing it...it comes without warning and makes us feel blue for a long while, not knowing how to comprehend. I like how you added in emotions of regret, yet giving a touch of hope and reassurance towards the end. It was a nice poem!:-)
