The Truth About Dragons

The Truth About Dragons

A Poem by Lindsay Lukens
"

Another oldie but goodie. This is a really sardonic look a politics and society. Funny I guess...

"

You say ‘dragons are evil and must be slain.’
I say ‘no, they are beautiful; let them stay!
That’s stupid’ I continue ‘your queen is a s**t.’
‘That’s it!’ they replied ‘we’ll feed you to the dragons you love so much.’
So I said let it be and they took me away to a cave in the mountains
Of night-time and day.
They left me there and ran with fear, for they too heard the dragon that was coming near.
He looked at me and asked ‘why are you here?’
Then I told him the tale of my villiage’s fear.
‘what fun it would be’ he said with a grin
‘if we flew into town and did all the pricks in?’
so I rode on his back as we rode into town
and I laughed as the dragon burned the place down
and now I am queen and the dragon is king
in the town that burned to the ground.
