For YouA Poem by Lindsay LukensA love poem for my Master.
I could never write another love poem
But for you even this accusing white ebbs away
To nothing.
I could scream,
With hands by my face and mouth open,
For you;
I could etch your name with toothpaste
Above the burn scars
In my arm.
I remember seeing you:
Your beard and often aqua eyes searching
For that recognition in
My cloudy skies.
Are those vans, you ask? And
Then I know these are just words
Sent my way when the real question
Lies beneath.
I did not want you.
But here am I, yours;
Will you keep me?
