And All I Ever Dreampt of Came to MeA Poem by Lindsay LukensI wanted him for so long. He had wanted me. One night in January everything I dreampt of came to me...
And all I ever dreamt of came to me
One night in January as I fought back
The cold. I remember your threat to sleep
When you glimpsed me in the shadow and dark.
For weeks I dangled anything before
Your eyes, moving in closer, closer each
Time. I watched as touch found our new report
Crashing further into each other’s reach.
I found worlds in your bed – planets and stars,
They moved with us all those long days and nights
Bouncing endlessly off your mirrors
And swirling in the rolling lava light.
Last night I dreamt that soon was fin’ly here;
As the sun climbed the sky, you disappeared.
