An Epiphany After Two Weeks of Silence

An Epiphany After Two Weeks of Silence

A Poem by Lindsay Lukens
"

Stanzas of haikus. My lover declines me for two weeks. After those fourteen days, he sees me again for the first time...

"

I felt you coming
Miles before your barging in.
You say we’re like that.

Always on the floor -
Up to no good by the fridge,
I’ve lain in wait here.

When you spring my trap
I see you slip into place -
Part of that Voo Doo

You ripple to -
And there’s my magic lasso!
Dang’ling round your waist.

As you slide my way
I ask if you’ve had enough;
“Well,” you say, leaning

In towards the fridge,
“I believe I have.” As I
Rope you in, ice falls.
