Shattered Ceilings

Shattered Ceilings

A Poem by sky renee

The stars shine like pieces of shattered glass,

I wish to see them, but you’ve become my ceiling.

I’d give you my soul if you would just ask;

this wretched love prevents me from healing.

I try to blossom, but you’ve cut my stem.

I am merely a puppet on your string,

as I play your games over again,

you put me in a cage, and I break my own wings.

Alas, I look down the tunnel and I see light,

I remove the rose-tinted glasses from my eyes.

I won’t let you keep me down without a fight,

you’ll no longer fool me with your disguise.

I broke my bones for something that wasn’t true;

but life is so much bigger than belonging to you.
