Born Yesterday

Born Yesterday

A Poem by Skylar Lighten

Today is the beginning of the rest of my life. I feel the weight of it in the air, a shift that I can't quite explain but can sense all around me. It’s as if the past has settled into its rightful place, a chapter I’ve turned, and now the pages of today unfold before me, crisp and full of possibilities.
There's something about this moment that feels different"a quiet understanding that the decisions I make from here will carve the path forward. I stand on the edge of something new, but not with fear or hesitation. Instead, I feel a sense of peace, as if everything I’ve been through has led me to this precise point. The future, once a distant idea, feels tangible now, like it’s within my grasp. I don’t know exactly what comes next, but I know it’s mine to shape.
There’s a calmness in knowing that I am starting fresh, with all the lessons I’ve learned and all the hope I can carry. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, and it feels like everything is possible because today is the beginning of the rest of my life.
