Perfect State - Lonely Space

Perfect State - Lonely Space

A Poem by Skylar Lighten

You've been in a lonely space
I've been in a perfect state
Maybe this resonates
Maybe it hits me to think about you hurting

I wonder if it’s all just fate
If your heart breaks while mine escapes unscathed
But maybe that's the weight we bear, unearned grace
My luck, your ache - both so misplaced

You’re grasping at shadows, while I hold the light
It isn’t fair, this dance, this fight
How can I be whole when you’re not alright?
Does my calm feel cold, does my warmth feel trite?

'Cause I've been here basking, in days without storm
While you brave the dark, longing for dawn's form
Each minute passes, you're wrapped up in grey
While I'm here with words I don't know how to say
