After ages of silence

After ages of silence

A Poem by Skylar Lighten

I want you to know
It's so good to hear your voice
After ages of silence,
Like the sun breaking through winter's choice.

You were a ghost in my memory,
Fading like a star in the dawn,
Yet here you are, painting colors
On the canvas of what’s been drawn.

Tell me your dreams,
Are they wild or contained?
Have you danced with your shadows
Or played the role of the tamed?
In this melody, can we find
The notes we once missed?
A symphony of what was lost
In the echoes of our bliss.

Your laughter still lingers,
A bittersweet song in the air,
Reminding me of summers
When we didn’t have a care.

But time's a thief, isn’t it?
Stealing moments, weaving threads,
Now we’re two ships passing by,
On currents of what we’ve said.

So let’s break the silence,
Unravel the lines that divide,
With every word that you speak,
I feel the tides coincide.

I want you to know,
It’s so good to hear your voice,
Let’s write a new chapter,
Together, we’ll make the choice.
