I'm mad at the clock. And the calendar.

I'm mad at the clock. And the calendar.

A Poem by Skylar Lighten
"

Because yesterday was the best day of my life. Which makes today the worst day of my life. Because it’s what ended yesterday

"

So, tell me, did you dream last night?

Yes, I did actually

That was one of the only times I did.

What was your dream about?

That yesterday would never end.

Why’s that?

Because yesterday was the best day of my life.

Which makes today the worst day of my life.

Because it’s what ended yesterday.

That’s quite pessimistic.

Today didn’t have to end yesterday’s fun.

Yes.Yes, it did.

Because that’s the concept of time.

It forces us to find beginnings and ends.

Does it really?

It does.

Time is limited, it is what directs my days.

Nothing can go on forever.

So, I’m mad at the clocks. And at the calendar.

But why?

It’s a common hatred in the world.

Who wants their birthday to only last a day?

But the celebration can last longer.

But, yesterday was the best day of my life.

Which makes today the worst day of my life.

Because it’s what ended yesterday.

But the clock shouldn’t define your days.

Don’t let the fun stop at midnight because a new day started.

If it’s a happy place. Don’t let go of it until you’re ready.

You decide which chapter of your life should go on for longer.

Wow this is such a unique and interesting piece. I adore the line "Because yesterday was the best day of my life. Which makes today the worst day of my life. Because it’s what ended yesterday." It is such an interesting way to view grief and loss and endings. Sometimes the beauty of a moment can feel ruined by its inevitable end. Great work, I found this format super interesting :)
