Ballet

Ballet

A Poem by Skylar Rose
"

So this poem is about dance. For me, I use dance to make art of my life, and I hope you all have something that makes you truly you.

"
Ballet is dance.
To dance is to be free.
So I figure
if I fall back into pointe,
Every time I lose sight of me,
My heart will hold together
The lock and the key.

So this poem is about dance. For me, I dance to make art of my life, and I hope you all have something that makes you truly you. Something unique. Ballet is a huge part of who I am, and I am proud of that. I never used to be, because I was embarrassed to say I was a dancer. Now, looking back, I know that being embarrassed was silly, and I try my hardest to do what makes me happy, without the barrier of other people's opinions. I am interested in what cool hobbies you guys have. What makes you unique?

You are never truly free until you no longer care what others think of you. I like how you point this out here.
For me when I was kid I always wanted to write, at that time write about fantasy worlds, superpowers and evil monsters and stuff. I also loved animals, I would pick up an injured sparrow in the street and take it somewhere safe. In the type of social environment I grew up, it wasn't a very normal thing (but is it anywhere, I wondered). So when I was a teenager I hid it, pretended to be someone I wasn't so I could be friends with the cool people and have everyone think I was 'normal'.
As I grew up I came to learn that it is better to just be yourself. So that is what I do now. As a young adult I live in on a farm with my partner who I live with my partner, with whom I can be myself. And my true friends have stayed in my life. I couldn't be happier.
