Cognac & Words

Cognac & Words

A Poem by skribbles33
"

Written with thirsty fingers and a seeping mind.

"

A bottle of cognac

a packet of smokes and I’m thrilled to let my

mind go, allow it to throw darts, pixels and picas and points

                                    up on the screen.

I lost my pen, I opened Microsoft word,

left index finger on F                    right index on J

and thumbs are spacing out

like all that I ever am when I’m drinking alone

.           thinking on words.

The bars and chords of classical music providing

the background the flow of what I write here.

The rhythm, the sounds of what you hear yourself read to your ear.

Do me a favor before you read the next line...

I’ll give you sometime.....

Bring out the drink that makes you unwind

or roll you a joint, whatever you do don’t go on til you’re a

cicada, flying high and buzzing like me.

Here’s the line you were waiting for fool.  Ready?

I quit, now go out and live, life is to short to

be reading words written by drunken a*s fools.

Thank you Joseph. You know, sometimes I don't mind the bottle, other times, I want my readers to smell the alcohol in the words. Coyote, thank you for referring me here through Myspace. I prefer whiskey as well, and being by the ocean would be a great spot for writing. Thanks again!

This is a really great poem. To me it says don't let any live or inspiration come from a bottle, let it come from yourself. I really like that. The format's great on this piece and it gives it an extra flow. Great job! Keep it up!

Best stories been written by drunken a*s fools over the years. I like the poem. Been years since I drank a good shot of cognac. I wrote my best stories with a bottle of whiskey by the ocean. A excellent poem.
