Three - Part One I woke up the next morning with mixed
feelings. I was worried about Robbie, and I was happy to be there for Andrea. I
was fairly sure that Robbie would be okay, he was a strong person. Nevertheless,
I was concerned for my friend. Andrea was still sleeping, her head on
my chest. I wondered what she was dreaming about. I was wide awake, so I gently
moved her onto a pillow and got up. One of my habits is making a good
breakfast every morning. Nothing fancy - just eggs, and maybe some sausages or
tomato. I get up early just to have a good breakfast. I think it’s important. This morning I decided to make blueberry
pancakes. They were a treat for me, and I hoped it might cheer Andrea up a bit
to wake up to the delicious smell. Just as I was having that thought, Andrea
walked out. She had bed hair, and her eyes were
smeared with last night’s mascara, but to me she’d never been so beautiful. She
smiled slightly as I piled her plate with pancakes and a big scoop of ice-cream,
twirling the maple syrup on top. “I love blueberry pancakes. You must
be a mind reader.” “I’m glad you like them, I’m on the
afternoon shift today so I had some extra time.” Andrea was finished her pancakes in
about five minutes. I piled her plate up again and smiled as she dug in
hungrily. I was jealous that she could eat so much as stay so shapely. I heard a tap. At first I didn’t know
what it was. It continued a minute later and I realized it was the front door.
I walked over and opened it. Standing there was the last person I expected to
