Chapter Two - Part One

Robbie came straight over to us. He was smiling and I could tell he was satisfied that he had tricked me somehow. I almost scowled in return.

“Hello Evelyn, I see you’ve met my little sister. I thought I’d find you two here. It’s the first place I’ve looked.”

“Your sister? Please don’t tell me this is all some horrible joke, and why are you here?”

Andrea frowned and I relaxed; I could see that even if this was some scheme of Robbie’s, she hadn’t been in on it. That kiss had been real.

“How do you two know each other?” she asked.

“We both work at The Little Teapot,” I said.

“I didn’t know. I promise that I had no idea, Evelyn.”

“It’s alright, I can tell.”

She smiled and motioned for Robbie to sit. He did so with such smugness I almost puked up my spinach and feta pie in disgust, and yet I couldn’t hate him. He was my best friend and I trusted him completely, he hadn’t done any harm after all.

“Do you ladies mind if I join you? I don’t want to ruin the chemistry.”

“Is that okay with you, Evelyn. It’s just I haven’t seen Robbie for almost a year.”

“Of course, it’s fine,” I said. Even so, I was a little disappointed. Andrea evidently noticed because she winked at me and smiled.

“Don’t worry; we’re going to have plenty of time to get to know each other.”

I couldn’t help but blush, which made Robbie laugh. He was a wonderfully cheerful person; he’d helped me through a lot since I’d met him. I can honestly say that he saved my life.

“What have you been up to, dear brother of mine?”

“Not much. Working, sleeping, partying, which I should probably give up now that I’m as old as the pyramids.”

“Twenty-eight isn’t old, get over yourself.”

“I’ve been thinking about you. How did you end up here? I wasn’t expecting to ever see you around here.”

“I’ve actually been around the area for a while, I’ve been looking for you actually, I knew you were in the area. I just didn’t expect to find you in a little coffee shop.”

“I happen to caught you at a really good time, because I have something important I want to share with you both. That’s why I’m crashing your hot date.”

To be continued…
