An Ode To A Aunt

An Ode To A Aunt

A Poem by Skib
"

I went to my great Aunts Funeral today and realized that I didn't shed a tear, I came to the conclusion that I fell into the spectrum of a psychopath but everyone deals with things inn different ways.

"
Today was the last time you were to leave your house
your last farewell, a drive around your hometown.
I followed the hearse
"Nan" and "Mum" as a flowery beacon
I watched the people watch you
in your wicker casket
a mere basket
I wonder what they thought

I sat in the back row of the parish
and watched your offspring and theirs
praise you in poetry and eulogy
struggling in vain to hide their anguish and grief
at the loss of you.

I however grieved for you in a more logical way
for your mind was in torment and your body had, had its day
I showed support where it was lacking
to cousins and friends
but remembered your irish wit and innocent nature

An ode to you Good old Aunt kit
A ripe old age and finally at rest.

Gee
There are to many willing souls trying to outcry those around them, scene stealers, grief hijackers. As bad as it seems some people are better off dead
