The Blackest of Sails

The Blackest of Sails

A Poem by kaycee

cheers for settling,

for just passing the time.

and, what the hell,

let's have some fun

while we're too afraid

to give in to one another's signs.

we're too fucked up,

we're too unkind

to take a chance

and lose our goddamn minds.

so raise the blackest sails;

we won't be giving in.

this is not a game,

but we both swear to god we'll win.

I like the conviction and word play in this piece, very powerful and cuts deep.

I love the pirate reference, and I know the feeling of killing time with someone.
