All is Still ...

All is Still ...

A Poem by S. K. Burke

I hope some day you wake up
and the sun is shining and the birds are chirping
and years have past
but you still haven't changed.

I hope your heart is still big
and your smile warm and hands eager
and you've seen it all
but you still haven't changed.

I hope you never let go
and you still see the good, and put others first
and you know how hard things can get
but you still haven't changed.

I hope no anecdotes turn you bitter
and you know kindness is never wasted
and you know your own worth
but you still haven't changed.

I hope despite it all you still need me,
because I'll always love you as I do now,
and I hope when we wake up and yeas have past
we still haven't changed.
