Fine

Fine

A Poem by S. K. Burke

My highs and lows, they change with the tides
my hearts on a coater I'm just here for the ride
I'll drop from 1000 to 1 and can't muster the might
I'm exhausted, I'm spent, and the cost is too high
my chest is heavy and my throat closes tight
and I've begun to assume that my sorrow's implied
even when I try to hide all the daggers jabbing me from inside
I bet you're tired of asking if today I'm alright
and I break every time you look at me with those eyes
and you tell me again that I've been on your mind
cause Jesus Christ, all I want is to get out of mine
and to be honest, I'll tell you you;re wasting your time
cause I lose a bit of myself with every tear that I cry
and no one should be carrying a corpse at this time in their life
no matter how many times that corpse utters "i'm fine".

Honest and direct thoughts. I do believe we must solve our own problems. Added help just add weight and burden. I liked the closing live. Truthful and meaningful. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
