Please, no

Please, no

A Poem by Nicole Schuster
"

for those that believe that they are unworthy of the love of another

"
"I love you"
No
Please, no
You don't want to love me
You don't want to love me
You see my laughter
My smiles, jokes, joys
You see my happiness
And my feelings for you
And you say that's why you love me
But there's so much you don't see
That I don't show you
Because I don't want you to know
Anything other than my smile
Beneath what I present
Is a dam
Broken by the pressure of too many tears
Is a thread
Shredded and frayed from the cracks in my heart
Is a story
Written into the flesh of a girl who can't cope
Is the truth
That I'm not someone who deserves to be loved
"I love you"
No
Please, no
You don't want to love me
You don't want to love me
Please, just go
Get out of the place that those words have sent you
Go find a girl
With clear eyes
With a heart in one piece
With perfect
Untouched
Unmarred skin
Please
Love her instead
I know that if I lift my shield
You won't love me
You will run
Or you will try to fix this
To fix me
And either choice will finally shatter me
I'm just a girl
A broken, unsteady girl
And I want so much more for you
Than the empty soul I have to offer
"I love you"
No
Please, no
You might love me
I don't want you to love me
No
Please, no
Go love a girl
Who can actually look at herself
No
Please, no
You don't want to love me
I don't want you to love me

Turning away from a person who claims to love you because of the insecurities you have is enthralling. In a sense it likes sacrificing a relationship to save the other from turmoil, disappointment, and misery. Powerful poem that encapsulates emotion. Very well done. :)

What is love, anyway? Just a word, a meaningless word. Instead of saying "I love you", which means nothing, and instead of "trying to fix" a girl, the guy should just try to be what she needs.... and if he isn't, then she should just break the news to him that he isn't. That's the way I see it, anyway.

Pretty much exactly, yeah. Thanks for the review :)
This is exactly what I am going through right now. It really is hard being sad and having people expect you to be fixed and smile. Smiling is there but's not all real sometimes. When I love someone, I feel terrible because it feels wrong to drag them into my worthless problems. I love your writing. I understand what you wrote.

I enjoyed every word, your writing style and grammar was very precise and helpful to read.

Just remember, it passes. It doesn't seem like it, trust me I know, but it is useful to have hope.

Always, Gina.

We are infinite.

No problem! There is nothing I wouldn't do to help someone who is going through tough times..
I know I've said and thought these words too. :(

Great poem! I think we can all relate to that feeling of being unworthy of love. Ive been on both sides of this and you do beautiful job of putting those feelings to paper. Great Job! keep it up!

I understand this poem.
"No
Please, no
You don't want to love me
I don't want you to love me"
When the above is true for sad heart. Best to be alone. Lock-up love lead to no-where. Thank you Nicole for sharing the excellent poetry.
