A Simple Life

A Simple Life

A Poem by Sonia

We woke up at our normal time,
we followed the same routine
Plain breakfast, nothing new,
Same as we had always been.

We left the house, to the park
Where the children were at play
And the mothers gossiped on the benches
Just like any other day.

This time we took the north path
but the difference was only slight
And so in small talk and small occurrences
The morning turned to night

Then a simple dinner, light wine
Reading or cards for a while
Then off to bed with a light kiss
And I drift to sleep with a smile

Because even if the day was normal
or below, I couldn't tell,
if you're here beside me,
everything's just swell.
