God

You see me here

standing small

your thundering voice

towering all

 

I've spent too much time believing

and i've spent too much time in hope

And now I'm leaving you

with heart and spirit broke

 

What foolish devotion this was

what blind and naive trust

to think that you could love me

to base this bond on luck

 

So now I'm leaving you

Implorements can't stop this part

You control the heavens

but i control my heart

 

I whispered dumb words of faith

I read your sacred tale

But now I see that you're nothing

You can no longer make me hail

 

Now watch me as I leave you

Just try to pull me back

You can't dominate my mind any longer

I've slipped through the crack

 

You watch me leave,

walking away

and none of your winds

can make me sway

Ah, here lies a recent place for which I am familiar. Only in the end, I realized one cannot run or hide from God. He finds them. When life fell completely apart because of my contrary behavior to God's word, it was then I remembered exactly why I need faith. This is a lovely write though true to life and the questioning of faith.

Belief and faith is hard to hold on to. I understand this poem. I have been questioning the why and the where is God? After 40 years of researching. I'm still looking. I like the feel and the emotion of this poem. I don't know. In death we will learn the truth. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

I remember the first time I felt like this. When I realized that if there really was a god he would have helped me by now. I think it the first step to realizing the truths of the world. I love the words and the emotion behind them.
