BoyA Poem by Sonia
He was the boy who could not
move the smile from his face He loved the world loved every place They would smile with him and laugh sometimes too At that time the days were bright the oceans were blue But the boy came a smiling upon the fresh dug grave mourners demanded "Why the grin?" Because I know he's in a better place The storm began to draw and faces were low They scowled when the boy walked by putting on that happy show "Why does he laugh? Why does he smile?" Because I know, said he All will be well in a while. But color fades with time blue becomes gray People loose their hope people forget to pray And yet the boy smiled still though whispers surrounded to the town and so one day all resolved to bring that smile down And with the fire of passion the fire of anger the boy was ambushed made an unwanted stranger "You smile at our troubles you laugh at our pains" Only because I know in anger there are no gains But when fire burns it doesn't die Instead it consumed the smile, consumed the city And for the first time in the flames The people saw real pity Because I know bright days never disappear and i know that pain doesn't last But I don't know if you will see this truth through the clouds of ash © 2010 SoniaAuthor's Note
