What I Am

What I Am

A Poem by Sonia

I am not a lover
I do not dream
for the passionate rose petals
to whisper fragrance
to brush my cheek

And when I see you
my knees don't shake,
grow weak at the joints or falter
and my heart remains
even paced

You laugh and yet
I am untouched
you smile and I return only with
civility, not longing
or lust

So why do i only
picture you and me
beside ourselves, together,
what magnetism
can this be?

If you asked me
if i loved you
i would be a liar if i said yes
because I love i don't
need i do

I am not a lover
No, i will never be
but as man needs air, water,
shelter, life
so do i need thee.

Is it alright if I alter it a bit for song formatting?
