The RaceA Poem by SoniaThis poem is just about how everyone around me is so successful and so ambitious and I feel sort of left behind.
The world speeding up beside me
a flickering stream of light leaves me in darkness leaves me without sight Sluggish and slow my ambitions go lead blocks upon my feet Fumbling hands that taint the sculpture Though king's air I breathe Am i worthy among these searching minds? Medals adorn their breasts mine empty, a desolate desert emptiness in my chest Time used to be slow Who sped up the days? And made children adults with no time to play And left me stranded in the memories of old behind and backwards stuck in the cold Wishing for a moment that's ceased to exist Wandering aimlessly in the thick mist Around me are beams of light That past by so swiftly Untouchable, unreachable spreading too quickly © 2010 SoniaAuthor's Note
