It’s like a game of hide and seek
They’re trying to kill us all
But we won’t let them win, so we hide ourselves as if our lives depend on it because they do.
You can hear the grenades being thrown tearing up our town with nowhere to go
The only place I’ve known as home, my base. The place where I can finally feel safe
Even though our base has been destroyed I still find my way home
Although home will never be as it once was because I will never get to tell my mom I won this game
She lost the game, so the angels had to take her away
No one in my family has yet to win this game. Someone is always better at it than us
Maybe my destiny will be just like the rest of our family, or maybe I’ll win for once.
I hide with my brother who is too young to know where to go or the rules of the game
At the end of the day, I tuck him into his bed because the game is over for now
I wake him up in the morning so that we can get to our safe place before the seekers come to find us
But he doesn’t move. He lies there so still
I check under the bed sheets and I see no blood, but I feel no heartbeat
I collapse to the ground in tears
Those that hides don’t deserve to die because they’ve done nothing wrong in this world
I’m only 17 and he is just a mere 12, but we go through this every day.
I now must go on my own with no hope. My only choice is to seek because those are the ones that always live longer
Although, I realize that everyone loses at this game eventually. Whether they hide or they seek
This is the game known as life.
Prepare yourself and try not to die
