T...I...M...E...

T...I...M...E...

A Poem by Steve L.
"

We live by it...pervasive and never ending...

"
Tick...relative...tock...determined...

Tick...magical...tock...sinister...

Does an undiscovered tribe in the Amazon care if it is 2:00 pm?

When was the exact moment in history when time was accounted for? When did life itself start to revolve around an everlasting sequence of numbers?

Time can be measured in nanoseconds, like neural firings...it can be measured in light years, like a far off galaxy whose distance cannot be measured utilizing human intellect...

Tahitian vacation...losing your breath....pain...pleasure...acid trip...sky diving...all can be encapsulated in generic time...however, within our minds these moments can feel like eternity or the blink of an eye...time is in the eye of the beholder...

I am not cognizant of even .01% of all the seconds that I have lived...my existence...central to my being...illuminating...haunting...it is a tiny spec of sand in a endless desert on a far off planet...

However, that tiny spec will encompass love, passion , hurt, suffering, elation, trauma, dreams...there is nothing more magical and foreboding to be aware of the fact that is tiny spec is my life, my world, my family...

It is infinite...it is nonexistent...

Will time stop? Clocks might stop ticking...hearts may stop beating...but atoms and molecules will continue to replicate and collide...create and destroy...maybe there is a grand ending on the horizon...live your life like it is a illuminating galaxy...like a gigantic sun...

Do not ever live it like a spec of sand...for it can be blown away at any moment.

Now this is one powerful insight. I, too have always been fascinated by time. It is one of the many things in this world that just does not quite make sense. I love the sense of mystery lingering in your thoughts and questions. Very well put. Thank you for sharing.
