White Copy PaperA Poem by C.B.A piece of slam poetry. New style I decided to try out. I'm hoping the formatting stays because otherwise it'll be tough to understand.
White Copy paper
Let’s outline our High School Experience
In just ONE page.
Trick the teacher and set it to 9.5 font
And include all the meat n’ potatoes
We can fit.
Adjust the margins enough that we don’t
Go over the MAXIMUM
But don’t overdo it,
Teacher, Teacher might see a personal,
Altered
Not-so-cloned piece of
White, copy paper.
So what if our desks are arranged
In neat, identical rows of identical desks
Which hold the not-so-identical YOU and I,
We- We are allowed to show who we are,
Where we come from,
What we think/ What we say/ Who we like/ Who we hate
But only through BLACK ink and
Times New Roman, 12 point font on
White, copy paper.
But are we copies of one another?
Our parents never committed copyright infringement
By using the same mold without
Permission or patents to create progress without patience.
Plagiarism was never found on their pieces of
White, copy paper.
So let’s just copy and paste
Our thoughts from our brains
And let’s be daring and say
What we really think about your rubrics/ Your report cards/ Your status reports
Give me a zero on that paper/ It’s too late to give you my opinion on
White, copy paper.
So, let me set this up in terms/ that maybe they can understand:
There is not a classroom on the planet
That can teach us what’s important. / Only
the facts, / Cold, hard facts
On 32 cloned pieces of
White, copy paper.
