Oblivion

Oblivion

A Poem by Cortney Lynn
"

i wrote this a while ago, but its more important now.

"

Let's go scream at that top of our lungs

and let our obscenities and confessions

bounce off the lake

where no one can hear us.

"I HATE YOU!"

"WHAT DID I DO WRONG?"

"HOW COULD YOU?"

"I LOVE YOU!"

"F**K YOU!"

We hear each other's words

but we focus on our own

and notice the similarity

and we don't want to exist.

Tears fall steadily down my face

and your expression turns to hurt

and we notice that we were yelling at each other,

not at the water.

Your voice softens into song

as I continue to yell at you

and my tears continue to fall.

You take me in your arms

and my yells turn to sobs.

"Why?"

"I don't know. I don't know."

I was impressed with hour each of the subjects in the poem were able to release their inner turmoils, tell each other exactly how they feel, and in the end, still hold each other. Irreplaceable!

this really gave me a flashback to my "birthday" when we walked down to that park with tilly.

and this is really wonderful.

we arrived too late
our mouthers were opening.
i turned off the light;
so come on, night.
You're a witness,
you've seen me inturrupt
the good old fashion light
so come on, night.

everyone has gone home to oblivion.
