Nothing's Gonna Change My world

Nothing's Gonna Change My world

A Poem by Cortney Lynn

‘Words are flying out

like endless rain

into

a paper cup

They slither

 while they pass.

They slip away

across the

universe’

I hear these words

floating through the speakers

and see the scene unfolding

on the screen

in front of me.

I harmonize with

a female voice

that I first heard

but I don’t sing.

you would notice

if I did.

That’s just how you are.

I have a feeling

you are only here

because you promised

way back in April

when you would

have been happy

to come with me.

I know you have

someone else

that you would rather

be sitting in my place

but I only want to be

here with you.

No one else.

I want you to stay

and never leave

like you promised,

but we are

already drifting

even if you

fail to notice.

I glance at you.

You are looking at me.

I look down.

You try and catch

my gaze

but I revert

my attention

back to the screen

until I feel your hand

squeeze mine

and promptly let go.

I put my hand

in my lap

like

nothing happened.

'Jai guru deva om

Nothing's gonna change my world

Nothing's gonna change my world

Nothing's gonna change my world

Nothing's gonna change my world

Jai guru deva

Jai guru deva

Jai guru deva

Jai guru deva '

About
I'm Cortney. I would probably enjoy it more if you took the time to get to know me, but that's okay. Everyone thinks that I am more complex or more simple than I actually am. You are lucky if you h.. more..
