The Child Trapped InsideA Poem by Danielle M Regalado~DmR~The child trapped inside, face in palms In endless trepidation, she cries and she moans Trapped in this tired and jaded house With no-one and no love inside… She craves the innocence and naivety Of Rose colored glasses Then, she could be free to pretend and play But once the light saturates her life, the old crone wails. Reminding the child of how she fails. That old bat, she points fingers and laughs. Her spindly pointers with nail polish cracked. She insults and condemns the loving child inside “You are selfish, repulsively immature swine!” The whip she grips firmly, as she strikes at her face Her body restrained in cables and chains. Eyes propped open with wooden picks, Left to zone out in front of a television set. And when she weeps, the world stands silent. And a gray wolf stalks with piercing eyes of ice. She’s so tired and old standing arms held open, an invitation for the wolf to callously devour. And the wolf judge executes… Let there be death to the haggard crone! There, the old hag’s body lays bloodless and limp Within a beautiful moment, the child trapped inside emits a vibrant orb shining amber, salmon and blue. After a long, lonesome wait, freedom is well overdue, where elation is never subdued. © 2012 Danielle M RegaladoAuthor's Note
