And I Look For

And I Look For

A Poem by Jessica

And I look for hope in his eyes

Happiness in his smile

Trust in his tears

And forgiveness in his anger

I pray for thoughts and emotions

Faith and dreams

And then I sit and I ask myself

Why? Why are you doing this?

Why do you push them away?

Why do you not trust any of them?

Why must you be so selfish?

Why can't you ever love again?

And I wonder...

Why don't they love?

Why don't they trust me?

Why don't they put they're pride aside?

Why do they push me away?

And it hurts to know

That when communication goes wrong

There’s never any hope of getting anything back

But it's he who I confide in

And it's he who I enjoy being with

And it's he who I lay with

And he's the reason the smile never leaves for a frown

He lets me believe

He lets me trust

He lets me breathe

And yet he's always there for me

And I ask myself...

Why me?

Why does he share his everything with me?

Why does he enjoy my presence?

But nothing lasts forever

When he starts to realize things are moving well and fast

He gets scared and pulls away

But it's never intentional right?

And he says he's not like the rest of them

But actions speak louder than words...

So he pushes me away

And communication strolls on a one-way street

And eventually that street hits a dead end

And the sad thing is that I will always look for...

Hope in his eyes

Happiness in his smile

Trust in his tears

And forgiveness in his anger

I like the story in this poem. I like the questions create by the thoughts and the emotion of this poem. Hard to open doors to love. When someone does. People are not afraid to show who they are. I like the ending to the poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Excellent! Beautiful verse. It's so easy to visualise the emotions and follow the story. If that is based on your own experience there's nothing wrong with being choosey, careful or picky when it comes to relationships. If they can't follor your road at your speed then don't worry about it. Stick to your principles and find someone else. Sorry, I don't mean to be preachy. Good job.
