Beyond(Prelude)

Beyond(Prelude)

A Poem by Rob River
"

Three piece poem discuss death

"
There I stood gazing
discovering all that came to pass
as the river of my life bends and shapes
redirects and lapses and I found
that my shadow wasn't my only companion
and on these muddy banks it became clear
a single set of steps was met and mirrored
and as I reached where the river ends and Styx begins
my companion turned to me and spoke
"I am death, and you are death. I am you and you are me.
You are born living and live dying, so go and pay the ferryman
and shed your earthly demeanor."
