ActA Poem by Sarah TReflections as I work to portray the ultimate beautyI act My career depends on me being able to copy others To create breathing humans with such finite ticks that they seem real People you could meet on the street I’m an actor so I notice everything I steal habits away from others How they talk How they sit How they walk But when I see you, I’m stumped Because no matter the effort i put in I just can’t steal you away The way your eyes shine The way your voice rolls from your tongue How delicate your movements are as you go about your day You are wondrous and magnificent And endless beauty You deny it with small smiles (They’re as bright as the moon) And a small shake of your head (Your hair surrounds you like a halo) But it’s true You’re magnificent and wonderful and exotic And endangered animal, wild and captivating I am an actor I’ve tried countlessly to replicate you To display the marvel that is you to others I’ve never succeeded said task No matter how long I could study you Nothing could capture the beauty of the original© 2013 Sarah T |
