Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by singingtree
"

A voice inside me told her story

"
A high scream pierces the air
My legs pump across the weeds
I realize the scream was mine
Tripping through the ruts
Crying uncontrolled
I hear angry yells behind me
Blood drips out of cuts
Formed as I climb over barbs
That held me for so long
A loud bang sounds
I fall to the cold ground
Crawling a crossed the dirt
I reach the tracks
The search light crosses over me
I jump up and run
Nothing to stop me
I duck into the forest
Burrowing into a bush
My heart slows near normal
Before I close my eyes
I raise my head to heaven
Praying for those I left behind
