"I'm here, I'm here"

"I'm here, I'm here"

A Poem by Hannah Berry

She’s sinking down and down.

I try calling out to her, reaching out my hand-

“I’m here,” I cry..  “I’m here,”

but she fails to see me for what I am,

which is there;

ready to save her from herself,

and all that wears her down.

So she sinks deeper and deeper out of my reach and all the while,

I’m throwing down ropes and ladders and

threads of hope,

but she’s too caught up in the dark.

I can no longer see the desperate pale eyes, glowing

while searching for another way out,

or the freckled hands clawing away at the black

“Im here,” I whisper, my voice falling into nothing,

but she’s withered within her lonely self

and she’s sunk down and down

and

she is no longer

here.

Hannah Berry
This is for a certain somebody, you know who you are. You're not alone, and you will never be alone. Whether we are 'friends, lovers, or even strangers', as you once said, I will always.. always be here.

This peice is well penned. It not only speaks to me of the frustration when someone close is falling and you can't help, but it also speaks of the pain that other feeling when one is to wrapped up in their own universe to see what their actions are doing to those that care around them.
At the same time, I agree that if someone doesn't want to change, they won't. That adds to the frustration and the hurt because it's like those people falling simply don't have a connection to their hearts anylonger. One can't help but to feel sad.

Nice ink!

This is incredible!
"So she sinks deeper and deeper out of my reach and all the while,
I’m throwing down ropes and ladders and
threads of hope,
but she’s too caught up in the dark."

There is so much emotion, it's tangible. And it's relate-able. Trying to help but being unable to... If there's anything I've learned from life, it's that happiness depends upon ourselves, and that you can't help those who can't first help themselves...

Beautiful piece

Thank you! It's so sad, not being able to help someone but being there and watching them suffer.
