Body like sore festering dust

Body like sore festering dust

A Poem by Alvah Goldbook

No one is more cursed than
The writer that can/t write
Bloody ear like footprints on the walls
Broken jaw like bolt heads groaning stuck

No one is more cursed than
A lover afraid
Weeping like rock salt glowing snow
Bruise like skin wedge clipped under weight

No one is more cursed than
Bohemian told never go never fly
Flower like life cycle never seen
Chalkboard like muted scratches blind

No one is more cursed than
Woman never mother
Old age like a burden sentence
Seed like craft store on clearance

No one is more cursed than
These unfinished poems
Lines like unattended children at the playground
Imagination like bee hives under pressure
