I Knew

          I knew he would leave, I knew he would go, but I gave him a chance anyways.  I knew I would get hurt, but in his eyes I saw a shimmer of hope, a sign of light.  I believed in him with all my heart, hoping he was the one, to pull me from the darkness, to save me from this place.  But I was right, it the beginning, he left, he went, he never came back.  I got hurt, and I felt the pain, and now I regret it so very much.  I guess we all make our mistakes, even though we knew they would happen.  But now I know, I learned my lesson, and a lesson learned, is only less pain for the future.
