"One's Kaleidoscope"

"One's Kaleidoscope"

A Poem by Valorie J. Shearer
"

Many colors of life; our only hope is that our lives mean something ultimately..

"

What color do you see when looking above?  Is it bluer than you remember?

Your sky.

What color do you see when looking below?  Is it browner than you recall?

Your ground.

what color do you see when looking at your shadow?  Is it older than you would like to comprehend?

your soul.

What color do you see when looking out over the earth?  Is it angrier than you would have dreamed?

Your world.

What color do you see when gazing into your looking glass?  Is it clearer  than you perceived?

Your reflection.

What color do you see when looking ahead of you?  Is it greener than pastures spoken of?

Your future.

What color do you see when looking behind you?  Is it wisdom you sought?

Your past.

What color do you see at the end of your life?  Will it be love you gave or withheld?

Your death.

See your sky in all it's glory

Stand your ground at every turn

Guard your soul from every evil

Make your world more accepting

See your reflection authentically

Pursue a future full of every hope

See your past for what is truly is.. your past

Face death in the manner you faced life - valiantly

This is simply AWESOME!
One of your best according to me...There's a huge depth in your words which I always admire a lot!
Thoughtful poems like this are always in my good books!
Though! I loved the entire work but some lines are my favorite like -

"What color do you see when looking behind you? Is it wisdom you sought?
Your past."
- I can relate myself very well with it and I guess most of people can relate themselves with it!
"Face death in the manner you faced life - valiantly" - Yes, I truly agree...death is an inevitable thing, an event which has to come in everyone's lifesooner or later, we need to accept it!

Brilliant piece of writing!!!

This is a beautiful poem, so full of life and emotion...I absolutely love it. I only hope that my Kaleidoscope is full of brilliant colors and that after I am gone, I will have truly lived every one of them. KUDOS!!

wow, I agree, this is one of your best poems, let me know when you title it,
there is much food for thought as well as the idea of pondering in essence,
then answering in context, for what color does the ehart see when looking
at the sky, i love the way your words bring the reader to another place and time,
Val, this is imaginative, well thought out and uplifting, knowledgable,
subtle, passionate as well being expressed through the heart, lovely.
