Ripples

Ripples

A Poem by Silvia - Scribo, Ergo Sum!

Photobucket

What is life but a stone thrown into the deep water?
True.

But

there are many different kinds of stone
and many different ways to throw them.

You can throw a stone

so
it may skip across the surface many times with gusto
or
it may simply drown with no more than a muffled moan
or
kiss the water and slink into its embrace, leaving slowly fading ripples,
or,
very rarely,
there is a stone, like pumice,
so light,
it rides across the waves for so long that it may seem ...
forever.

Great metaphors truly inspiring

Great piece here. I like the ripple metaphor in that aside from direct influence, we also influence our surroundings indirectly whether in nature or in social relationships.

As always reading you is a pleasure. You give beauty and wisdom and the way you've presented illustrates the words and makes them truly sing.

Wonderful extended metaphor. This is not a very long piece, but it is very deep.
