Silence

Silence

Silence has the sweetest voice
Your silence and mine
But yours mostly
To me at last ...

Your silence
that wraps me like a blanket in dark and lonely nights
caresses me gently at times when words would cut
or teases me into confessions that had better stayed unsaid ...

Silence has the harshest voice
Your silence and mine

When it parts us like the Iron Curtain in Cold Wars
When it blows in  Arctic winds that let us drift on broken ice
When it sits between us like an angry, fire-breathing dragon

Silence is a potent prayer
your silence and mine
OUR silence
that is a love beyond words
two souls SPEAKING silently
like
one soul
in a monologue with itself

Silence
is my gift to you
and yours to me
Because even in utter silence
we hear the other
sing
weep
laugh
and love.

In such silences
we
are
ONE.

A amazing poem. Gentle and beautiful. Silence is good. Words sometime don't mean much anymore. Being there and time together in silence can be a good day.

Silence is golden so the old saying goes and the way this piece looks at both sides, it probably belongs in Fort Knox. I really like the format, the illustration and the thoughtful analysis in the piece. Well written.

There's a lot said in comfortable silences, in the eyes of a cat, or a horse, or in the wrapped arm of a friend.
Well written words on soulful exchange

i think not saying a word could be saying too much, its not only our words that speak ,its the eyes ,the feeling of both so near ,its a touch a small move a sigh or a heavy breathing, all sorts of body movements and at most reading each other mind could tell much more than words ,when i am close to someone and i do not want him to read my thoughts or my eyes whats best i do is talk and talk so divert him from really know what i am saying to him without words ,very deep and thoughtful writing ,i just loved it gave lots to think about, very nice really

Hallo Silvia, wie geht es dir? Gut dich hier zu sehen, bist du nicht mehr auf Francisseite? Fr mich, diese ist ist zu langsam, keine Ahnung, warum.
wonderful poem, full of romantic moments. I thought, this was soothing and exactly what I needed right now... in silence can be said so much. When we don't speak, we show togetherness in the small phases between thoughts. wonderful.

Very deep! I enjoyed it. I hope you write more soon, a gift is gifted for a reason. And shouldn't be waisted. And you have a gift!

The silence that needs no words; comfortable, sweet, knowing. Edgar Lee Masters poem "Silence" is one of my all time favorites. There are definitely times that need no words.

I'm so glad to see a brand new Silvia poem on the site. I don't get out much. Glad to see you.
