Hesatation

I would give you my heart,

But I’m still afraid.

I’ve been hurt so many times

That I don’t want to go down that path again.

My heart is still in pieces lying on the floor

Waiting for my savior to come.

Will you be the only one

To turn my gray skies to blue?

I want to trust you with it all

But I’m not sure that I know how

I know you really love me

That’s as plain as day to see

But I’ve been hurt so many times that

I don’t want to go down that path again

I know that you won’t hurt me

But that pain is still there.

I’m really ready to love again

But I’m still afraid

"I'm really ready to love again"

No you're not. It's better to say that you want to, but you're not ready right now. It's hard to trust someone new when the person from your past has hurt you so badly. It's hard to put that pain behind you and even when you do, you want to do EVERYTHING you can to ensure that you don't have to feel it again. And if it means not trusting anyone else, so be it right? Wrong, because @ sum point, you have to live again. It's just a wreck on the highway right now, but you were going somewhere before the accident occurred right? So you gotta get back on the road, dust yourself, restart the engine and keep it moving to get to where you need to be.

very nicely written. I really like the repitition of the lines "I've been hurt so many times that / I don't want to go down that path again" I actually feel the hesitation of this poem. very good choice of title. overall, a job well done.
