Sands of Time

Sands of Time

A Poem by Justin Tobey

We lose ourselves in the ruby wind,

sands of time rising, falling,

amidst the diamond tears

and beaming smiles

of those who are caught in it.

The dunes shift like captured waves

of gold, amber, cloud.

Ripples of shadow and silver

across the desert sky

flicker under starry heavens.

The coming end,

blazing flames consuming all

to capture rolling grains

in an endless sea of smooth glass.

Rain falls, dies, and is reborn.

Echoes of silent voices

ring across empty skies.

Limitless night envelopes

the glossy ocean of crystal below:

a mirror of infinite stars.

Justin, your poetry never ceases to amaze me with the detail and the imagery,
the reader can feel the inspiration reflected in each word, its blisffuly
invented and takes the heart to another place and time, again, the imagery
is quite impressive and brings the writing to another level, capturing work.

I love the "ruby wind" line. The metaphors are brilliant.

Well penned, Justin.
