Unique?

Unique?

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

The philosophy continues...

"

I walk amidst a thousand others,

Unique. The only thing

That we all have in common

Is the fact that we're all different.

But how can we create

A world of unity

When our beautiful uniqueness

Causes us to clash wills?

How can we be expected to unify

A boundless, growing world

Filled with individual people

With individual ideas?

Is world peace realistic

In a world where nobody cares

About anybody's problems

More than their own?

What if instead of unifying completely

We simply learn to have

A single trait on common?

What if were were all accepting?

Would that combine

Two ideas whose very meanings

Clash and struggle against each other?

Could we create a world

Where unity means

Acceptance?

Ah, Justin, you have touched upon a subject I often ponder. I think as long as we ask these questions, there is still a chance. It's when we stop asking that we are all in trouble.

What ifs? Been thinking those same thoughts for years. Trying to get the rest to do so is the problem. But I'm all for it if it can be done. Good write.
