The Golden LordA Poem by Justin TobeyThis is the counter-part to my other poem, The Radiant Lady. That was the goddess, and this is the god.The Radiant Lady flew up, Passing to the twilight Like the moon, her chariot. Rose and amber flaring to the east Signaled the rise of the sun.
Oak, sage, cedar, and palm Fill the air with their fragrance As the horizon bursts with gold. From amidst the blazing light, A man walked from the sky.
He was muscular and bronze With sparkling emerald eyes And golden, wild hair. Lily white antlers raised, He commanded the sun.
He wore a simple loincloth, A hunter's bow slung back Over his broad shoulders. Arrows of every kind Rested in his quiver.
Vivid orange wildflowers Burst upward at his every step. He bathes the world in sunbeams, Golden warm rays piercing the sky And filling the great dome with life.
A wild light gleamed in this eyes, Showing only fractured glimpes Of his passion, power, and wisdom. He strode forward boldly To hunt his quick-footed prey. © 2008 Justin TobeyAuthor's Note
