LightningA Poem by Justin TobeyI think that lightning looks like giant cracks in a pane of glass, so I wrote about it!A bolt of lightning, pure, untainted energy, splits the sky in half like an ominous crack in the universal window.
Jagged, blazing tendrils split hazardously outwards from the main, twisted body. It illuminates the cathedral of grey and black clouds; A bulging, shifting ceiling of engulfing shadows.
An echoing, smoky BOOM! transmits for miles around. The roar of the mighty beast growls through endless worlds. Or is it a heavenly trumpet signaling the approach of a celestial master? Is it the powerful call of a warrior of the light?
Perhaps it is he who strikes a mighty, fiery hammer against the orb of shadows. Is the frightening blast really a call of hope? Or the blazing, wicked bolts really the fiery cracks inflicted by his gleaming sword?
The warrior strikes over and over and over, bombarding the inky shield To free the captured lives. The sun is his mace, The moon his shield, and the stars, ah, the stars. They are his invincible arrows, which pierce through the hold and bring the sky back to a world in half-shadows. © 2008 Justin TobeyAuthor's Note
