![]() MorningA Poem by Justin Tobey![]() I thought of this poem while I was in the shower after three failed attempts to get out of bed.![]() Blurry images flee.
Darkness.
Distant sounds echo.
Darkness.
Enveloping warmth and closeness. A crack of dimmed light Peeks through squinting eyes. I lie in a warm, comforting cocoon. In front of me, mountains and valleys Of soft, velvet sheets Amaze and intrique me for hours.
Pale lily sunlight Flows in through striped curtains. I close my eyes and take in The overwhelming peace. No responsibility. No cares. Nothing in the world is worth getting up for. I turn my face in, The warm pillow embraces And blocks the offending light.
