Chrysalis

Chrysalis

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

An angel's journey through life and a message about the lessons learned by being alone.

"

The sphere of time, untouched it was,

For centuries untold.

Its pearly sheen caught rays of light

And scattered them like gold.

It sighed with lilac, rain, and fire

And scattered colors far,

Until it washed upon a shore

Like heaven's falling star.

With cracks of thunder, wind, and rain,

It wobbled, dimmed, and cracked,

And from within this fallen star,

The angel dark attacked.

Through countless lands and endless seas,

He ravaged one by one.

His power rooted to the stone,

He stopped the very sun.

At last he found he ruled the sky

And sought to rule above.

And so he waged his war against

The deathless pair of love.

The shining goddess and the god

Unleashed their power full,

And like the lightning of the tide,

They'd use the push and pull.

"Enough!" they cried, with arms outstretched,

"The egg for you once more.

Perhaps in there you'll learn respect

And end this pointless war."

The angel dark, his lesson learned,

Was cast into the stone,

The chrysalis of light and dark

The torch of truth alone.

I read a few of your poems, and like this one the best. The rhyme works nicely. It reads almost like a story that could have been handed down by many generations in another place- a magical place far removed from this one. This is excellent work.

Stunning write - the god and godess truly raised their wrath upon him - I did not know in reading this he would be an angel of darkness but it seems fitting he was cast into stone although even they can be beautiful at times. Thank you - a wonderful undertaking.
